Annelein Pompe (1988) is a Dutch filmmaker and painter living and working in Brussels, Belgium. She graduated from the Image & Language department at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy (2011) in Amsterdam. She also participated in the 2016 Sound Image Culture (s.i.c. program, a nomadic workshop for film and anthropology in Brussels).
Annelein likes to dig up stories that hide in the interstices of our mostly unconsidered daily lifes. The Dutch painter and filmmaker blurs the boundaries between documentary and fiction by interweaving autobiographical elements, stories from her surroundings and daydreams. The narrative threads follow playful associations of ideas and jump between the now and then, the here and elsewhere. With humor, curiosity and a great sense of composition, she thus transforms a grizzled reality into a colorful contemporary tale.
