We want your poetry/music/art! But, to be blunt, we’re bloody picky at the same time? As stated elsewhere: we’re different from a lot of magazines out there in the sense that our main focus lies on work that, in this overly sensitive day and age, might get rejected because its use of language/imagery might offend. Brilliant Poetry or lyrics which subject matter might happen to contrast with what’s currently deemed just, fair, honest, healthy etc. etc. Visual art that’s literally hard to look at, but that you can’t look away from either. We like to get hit over the head. We’d love to read or look at your work and go ‘You fucking brilliant asshole!’ This means we’re not for everybody. So be it. It DOES however give us a shot, as a magazine, to become timeless. Or so we like to tell ourselves. Dream big, eh? Want in on that dream? Send us your very best, then. Here’s a few other ways in which we distinguish ourselves as well:
Published a specific poem (or got a track reviewed) before and want to try again here? Sure. If you blow us away with it, it deserves a spot. But just to be clear, if it doesn’t, try and live with it? Thanks. We make no difference between you having published it on your blog, or, for example, in The New Yorker. Tastes have a funny tendency to differ.
Have you used AI to help you write a verse (or track) that turns our world upside down? Right here please!
Yet again: does your submission include profanities, racism, violence or other ways it might offend, and you feel the need to explain yourself? Why? The work should speak for itself. There’s sublime poetry(/lyrics) out there about wanting to destroy something beautiful, for example, or of proper self-loathing. If it serves a purpose we understand, and we agree with why it’s necessary, your creative endeavor might very well find a home right here.
Simultaneous submissions are fine. It’s not like we are actively going to check beforehand, or afterwords. Again, previously published work is eligible. If that happens in the meantime and you want it mentioned, we’re sure you’ll let us know.
If you are a fan of a particular Dutch or Flemish lyricist or poet and want them and their work highlighted, send us your best translation effort in English, alongside the original work and their permission, and who knows!
Upload your submission in (mp4), docx or PDF only, please. Don’t include personal info or prior publication info in the submission itself. That will be a reason to decline your work. Send your definitive versions. We don’t like back and forths. Up to 3 poems(/tracks/images) max. If your work gets chosen for publication, you will receive an email saying so. Another one will follow when the issue in question is about to go live.
We charge a nominal fee to read your work because it helps. A lot. Costs and such. Time spent. But we’re no non-profit. If enough of you send your work in, thank you so much! We WILL spend the sur-plus earnings any way we want to. We’ll even share some pics about the feasts and bachanals held in your honor.
Please wait with submitting again until you’ve heard from us? And allow us a couple of months to do so. We strive to publish an issue every other month, so we WILL be in touch, pinky promise.
So! After all of that, if you still think we’re a good match and want to give it a shot, thank you again, and you can do so right here:
