SANDER GROEN is a painter, teacher, former editor of the literary magazine Renaissance, a founding member of the artist group Het Ongeboren Idee, Poetry slammer, an absurdist pur sang and a performer with a street art mentality. Here’s his Power to the poets!

As the front man of Dandyesko he and his gang of gifted musical misfits - contrabass Stan Stolk (o.a. Flairck), Jan de Ligt (I’ve got the Bullets, Normaal) and drummer Manfred de Winter (Mighty Dysons, Los Rancheros) - roamed our tiny little country for years with raw, funny, goofy poetry to very funky beats! + one love poem.

He paints with acrylics, sometimes oils and knows how to handle a spray can. In this manner he creates a body of work full of text, grand gestures with interesting details and blended colours.

Editorial note about ‘KOE KUT PORTEMONNEE…’: Sander Groen has been elected the official poet Laureate of the city of Vlaardingen 2026-2028! Since I (Benne) have had the same honor between 2008 and 2010, I got to read some poetry at his inauguration. I choose to read his ‘KOE KUT PORTOMONNEE…’ because ever since I heard him perform this Spoken Word piece Avant la lettre back in 1999 I think it incapsulates his talent perfectly. Congrats, buddy!‍ ‍
