Get out of your skull.

This little door.

You must open it yourself.

It opens to an unknown view.

It opens to an immeasurable insight.

Once unlocked the little door will never close again.

The light is just too bright.

The others can tell you all about it.

They can urge you on.

One could apply pressure even.

They can tell you whatever.

You are the one.

You must do it.

Turn the key from the inside.

Rescue the mind

through the body

through the mind.

And what if you won’t?

Because it’s unnecessary.

Just because it is sentimental folly.

Just because you don’t have the time.

Because you do not feel like it

Or because you do not dare.

Then you can nurse your little conscience.

You see with most people the door stays locked.

The light does not turn on.

The bird only leaves the cage

After one dies.

SANDER GROEN is a painter, teacher, former editor of the literary magazine Renaissance, a founding member of the artist group Het Ongeboren Idee, Poetry slammer, an absurdist pur sang and a performer with a street art mentality. Here’s his Power to the poets!

As the front man of Dandyesko he and his gang of gifted musical misfits - contrabass Stan Stolk (o.a. Flairck), Jan de Ligt (I’ve got the Bullets, Normaal) and drummer Manfred de Winter (Mighty Dysons, Los Rancheros) - roamed our tiny little country for years with raw, funny, goofy poetry to very funky beats! + one love poem.

He paints with acrylics, sometimes oils and knows how to handle a spray can. In this manner he creates a body of work full of text, grand gestures with interesting details and blended colours.
