Ovid spotted leaving Shakespeare and Company wearing Ralph Lauren’s Cashmere Shawl Cardigan over black Calvin Klein chinos

Scylla texted me the other day and said she’d seen Ovid kicking his heels in his chinos. Not sure what she meant by that so I asked for deets. Turns out he and Venus were holding hands and wandering down Rue de la Bûcherie. No. Not that Venus. Gods aren’t real, mostly not anyway. I mean, Hera is out there somewhere, and Zeus is doing a dime in lock up, but some of the others? Just fable and overwrought imagination. No, she is the other Venus, the 25,000 year old artist
that made oolite dolls back in Upper Paleolithic Europe. Long black hair, dark skin, blue eyes.
You know. That Venus.

You may not know this but she’s a friend of mine. We usually meet in Vienna, so I thought it
was interesting that she and Ovid were in Paris, and seemed to be buddies. I wonder if he’s planning on a modern re-write of Amores. Just in case, when I see him, I’m going to suggest he drop his obsession with Helen and write about Maggie Thatcher. That would be fun.
