André Manuel, born and raised in the city of Diepenheim, is one of the most outspoken voices within the Dutch music/theatre scene. As a performing artist, musician and columnist he’s been known for is uncompromising style for decades: raw, poetic, funny and always confrontational. With a career that started with the band Fratsen, and later Krang, Manuel grew into a theater personality who combines satire and societal critique with his music effortlessly. His lyrics are drenched in engagement and virtuosity, filleting big themes and human smallness in an equally merciless manner. The national Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant called him “a fearless language acrobat, with a darkly pessimistic but home hitting view of the world.”

A selection of his accolades: Krang got nominated for an Edison Award in 2000. They won a Zilver Harp in the same year. As a solo artist/performer he won the personality prize at the 1989 Cameretten, followed by the 1990 jury prize at the Leids Cabaret Festival. In 2015 he won the Poelifinario award for his show Het geval apart. A list of his theatershows:

Manuel was active as an actor in the soap opera Van Jonge Leu en Oale Groond by RTV Oost and participated in the city musicals 'Van Katoen & Nu' (September 2014) en 'Van Katoen en Water' (2022). In the summer of 2024 he played a role in OUT.
