What’s Even In A Word
Born as Sydney Lowell, the creative spirit and wordsmith uses her rhythmic poetry to tell stories that move. The Amsterdam born & bred is active as a spoken word poet, host, voice actor and cultural organizer. She combines music and poetry, with a tongue as sharp as sweet, as meditative as exuberant, and a presence as soulful as refreshing. Jazz, soul and hiphop influences converge with deeply rooted ancestral sounds and oral storytelling traditions. Often sharing messages about individual and collective reflection, spirituality, social critique, love, and growth.
In 2023, Sydney Lowell released her debut poetry EP “WORD”. Since then, she’s collaborated and featured on projects by artists like Ranie Ribeiro and Bnnyhunna, Diana Dzhabbar and Shamis. In the spring of 2026, she released her latest single “Transform” featuring jazz-fusion band RADIOHOP, and currently has new projects on the way. November 2027, she’ll appear on Super-Sonic Jazz’s compilation album “Super Sonic Series”. Sydney has graced stages such as Paradiso and Melkweg Amsterdam, and performed at music festivals like North Sea Jazz Festival and North Sea Roundtown, Grachtenfestival, MOMO Festival, LeGuess Who?, Down The Rabbit Hole, and Into The Great Wide Open.
