SLOW SNOW
“We are Willem Jakobs & Pieter Drift; an artist duo since 2012. Every week, we provide an update on our performances in the open field. By responding to the situation, we give reality a twist, creating a poetic image. Our trademark is a white table with two chairs. With our projects, we aim to make people look at their daily surroundings in a different way. Every place on earth has its own history, but this is not always traceable. According to Oscar Wilde, the only duty we have towards history is to rewrite it.”
Pieter Drift, graduated in 1991 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam, is a storyteller. He writes prose and poetry, makes etchings, drawings and collages. He gives his drawings a literal sense of time, with several partly visible layers. Just like a billboard filled with postings that is affected by the rain. Underneath the top poster is another poster and another one is under that. You can read all the different stories at once. The title is the finishing touch. Since 2012 he forms a duo with Willem Jakobs with whom he does many art projects and performances.
His written work has been published in Hollands Maandblad, Papieren Helden, Hard//hoofd, De Optimist, Ballustrada, Weirdo's and Op Ruwe Planken, among others.Willem Jakobs: landscape architect, artist.
