Boom van verlangen en wijsheid
(Tree of desire and wisdom)
Lia Koster (b. 1958) studied at the Academy of Visual Arts in Utrecht. After completing her studies, she focused primarily on glass and metal. This specialization soon attracted the attention of prominent clients such as the Holland-America Line, who asked Lia to design a glass ceiling for the first-class dining room.
Mevr. Koster has developed a distinctive style in her blown and fused glass objects, characterized above all by sparkling, transparent colors. For Lia, glass is the ideal medium to express the interplay between the fragility and the strength of life.
Her work draws inspiration from the origins of various life forms, resulting in pieces that evoke seed shapes, primitive growth patterns, and forms found at the microscopic level.
Specialties: Sculptures with glass, outdoor and indoor sculptures, commissions for art in public space, commissions in general and burglar-proof leaded glass fences
