New Wedge Heels

today i wore my new wedge heels

in downtown seattle

to go see toy story 5.

i wore

my space dress

because of buzz lightyear

& fishnet stockings

because it’s mid-june.

there sure were a lot of crowds today

all gathered by a great big tower of screens

clutching beer cans &

wearing sports jerseys.

drunken tourists

walk from our soccer stadium.

apparently,

the world cup is now

in my very own city.

i wouldn’t know because

i couldn’t give two shits about the

movement of a ball.

so instead i clog politely

in my first pair of wedge heels

since high school

swerve around until

i find my quiet place

& instead enjoy

a childhood favorite’s statement made

about children’s technology.

.
