Amanda Yskamp is a writer and a collagist. Her artwork has appeared in such magazines as Carte Blanche, Typehouse, Nonbinary Review, Riddled with Arrows, and The Spectacle. Poetry editor and frequent cover designer for WordRunner e-chapbooks, she lives on the 10-year flood plain of the Russian River, teaching writing from her online classroom.

“I create collages that are unfixed, without gluing anything down or committing to any particular arrangement. I cut images that appeal to me, then see how they interact. In this way, each image becomes its own element, exerting its own narrative, changing when brought into contact with other images. The two images in this piece called to one another.

As the paper world closes down in favor of digitalized everything, I am more and more drawn to these images as time capsules that evoke and echo. What they say/mean will of course depend on who views them, and within which context. It's rare that I will aim for a specific message. This comes forth based upon the interplay of visual signals addressing the viewer’s own experience.”
