A DAY AT THE BEACH COLLAGE MIXED MEDIA

Anthony George is an educator in the New York City public school system. He currently lives in Brooklyn, New York. He works with other artists in the metropolitan area to organize shows and bring people together in collaborative and creative spaces. George’s work has appeared in Big Hammer, Nerve Cowboy, and Anti-Lawn, among other magazines and journals. He co-edits the literary magazine, Arbella, and has had several books of poetry published by Iniquity Press/Vendetta Books, including Future Lost Past Found, Root for the Humans, and Shooting Doves.

George has been creating collages and mixed media art for the past 25 years, using images and text from old magazines and current sources, to highlight interactions as they relate to everyday life. This includes the tensions between individualism and consumerism, freedom and control, and the self and society. George is influenced by the work of Jacob Lawrence and seeks to present a story within his collages. Colors, tones, and shapes are meant to provide movement within the composition.

You can follow Anthony George on Instagram at Kinoq99farm. You can contact him via email at dreadnoughtearthpress@gmail.com. Currently, George is organizing a day for public art installations across the New York City/New Jersey area and would be happy to collaborate with others from different areas to expand this idea.
