WD-Spiral Part One CINEMA

Hermann Maier Neustadt, 2001
Kröller-Müller museum

Placed in the parc of the Kröller-Müller museum this ‘open air cinema’ offers a view of the surrounding forest. While the yellow tube creates it’s own atmosphere and detaches you from reality, the chairs and the opening at the front invite you to just relax, take in the view and live in the now.

The result is a surprisingly contemplative experience.

About the artist

Hermann Maier Neustadt (1956-2009) lived and worked in München. He looks for social, political, cultural and symbolic aspects of buildings and sites. Neustadt scrutinises place and function, returns to time and compares the original plans with the final elaboration. He analyses architecture from a sculptural reflex and probes the impact of builder, architect, engineer and owner on the building plan.
